TECHSPEC Barium Fluoride (BaF2) Windows offer wide-ranging use, such as in infrared spectroscopy, thanks to their extensive broadband transmission spanning deep ultraviolet to long-wave infrared. Barium fluoride's low refractive index of 1.48 ensures high transmission without requiring anti-reflection coatings. These windows can withstand up to 800C in dry conditions, but prolonged moisture exposure may degrade ultraviolet transmission. Although less water-resistant than calcium fluoride, BaF2 windows excel in high-energy radiation resistance, albeit with lower UV transmittance. BaF2 boasts a Knoop hardness of 82.
